Floyd Merle Carter's Obituary
Floyd Merle Carter, 83, of Tucson, Arizona passed away Oct. 18, 2013, due to medical complications. Beloved Floyd was born on Oct. 5, 1930 in the state of Wyoming. Our father, at 17 years old, joined the United States Navy in 1947, retiring in 1967 as Senior Chief E-8. During his active duty, Floyd spent most of his commitment in San Diego, California. He was overseas many time aboard Air Craft Carriers, one of which was the USS Kearsarge (CVS-33) picking up (Mercury 8) on Oct. 3, 1962. After retiring from the United States Navy Floyd worked for Civil Service (GS-12) as an inspector for the MX/Minutman (Peacekeeper) Missiles in and around F.E. Warren AFB, Wyoming. Surviving is wife, Mary Carter (our beloved mother) born in the same year as her husband and were due to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Dec. 20, 2013. Our parents had four children Floyd Jr., Lloyd , Don Carter of Tucson and Sandra Carter Jeffries of Spokane, WA. Floyd and Mary Carter had seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Our father was a quiet man of few words at home, he loved God and knew what had his attention. God first, his wife and family second and then others, his love was sacrificial. He was about service, it was that way in the military and was observable in how he loved our mother, exclusively and intimately as well as his children, always willing to serve and please. What a great gift God gave us and others who were touched by his life. We believe he had "NO RESERVES, NO RETREATS & NO REGRETS." We would like to thank you our God with no divided affection or split allegiances, we would like to thank you our mother, his wife, for giving us one of the most precious gifts in our life: Our Father. Services Wednesday, 11:00 a.m., October 23, 2013 at Evergreen Mortuary Chapel, N. Oracle Rd. & W. Miracle Mile with Pastor James Mavis of Faith Lutheran Church officiating.
