Frances Marie Curtis' Obituary
Frances Marie Curtis, born 13 November 1934, left us on 1 September, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Frances was one of those rare native-born Tucsonans so many of us newcomers to Tucson have been privileged to know. She was a high school educator, a State championship winning tennis coach, a successful real estate agent and a great friend. She is survived by a wide circle of family and friends both in Tucson and cities around the world. Her nieces Margaret Susan Watson and Sally Jeanne Taylor; her nephew Warren Peter Williamson and his wife Danna and numerous grand nieces and nephews as well as great grand nieces/nephews. She was an adopted member of the Leavitt family for several decades and always felt a part of that large and loving clan. She will be missed by her very close friends, Jocelyn Myles and most especially her alter ego and partner in crime Catherine Leary, and by all her friends too numerous to mention. Frances was a renaissance woman in the variety of her interests - traveling, love of sports, continuing education, theatre, her dogs who were as individual as she and her beloved Wildcats. If you were ill, she would come say hello, bring you a book to read, or to just sit and be there, an awesome part of your life. A woman of exceptional talents and a many-time world-wide traveler, having lived in England and taught in both Germany and Canada, she just this past year cruised through the Panama Canal. She lived life to the fullest and those of us lucky enough to know her have lost a special acquaintance. Everyone's life would be better if they were blessed with such a wonderful, kindhearted, considerate friend. In lieu of flowers donations to the Cancer Society and/or a charity you associate with Frances would be appreciated. A Funeral service will be held at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic church at 10:30 on Saturday, September 8, 2012.
