Frank M. Holtry's Obituary
Frank M Holtry, 73, passed away 01/08/2015, preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Frances, two sisters, Lois Jean, Deanna Rae and brother, Richard. Survived by his wife of 42 years, Julia Berne, sons; Rob and Tom, brother; Don, grandchildren; Sheridan, Brad, Robbie, & Kyle.
Born in Billings, Montana, Frank spent his child hood years in Kellogg, Idaho and Salt Lake City, Utah. Frank graduated from West High School and the University of Utah where he was an outstanding athlete and fierce competitor. His competitive drive was unrelenting, as many of his tennis partners and opponents over the years can attest. Frank served two years in the army and was an expert marksman. In the early 70’s Frank moved to Southern California where he fell in love with and married his life partner – Julia Berne. Frank and Julie traveled the world together and built beautiful homes and fabulous friendships in Southern California, the bay area, Flagstaff AZ, The Florida Keys, Vernal Utah, Seattle area and Tucson, AZ.
Frank was a voracious reader his entire life and could speak intelligently and eloquently on almost any subject. With his keen intellect and wry sense of humor Frank could bring humor and valuable insight to any conversation or gathering. Frank was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and had roles in several Hollywood movies. Frank with his presence, intellect and charm was a highly skilled negotiator and subsequently a successful investor. Frank was a very generous individual, donating to many charities monthly. He was always concerned about people less fortunate, as he was a big tipper at restaurants and he cared for his domestic help where he ensured they were well paid including large Christmas bonuses.
Frank was an avid outdoorsman and spent many wonderful days camping and hunting with his father brothers and sons in the Uintah mountains. Everywhere he went Frank made friends with the local wildlife and would spend hours and hours enjoying their company and they, his.
Frank was one of the biggest, strongest, toughest, intelligent and most handsome men of his generation. Those of us who knew, respected, admired and loved Frank know that this is no exaggeration. He will be remembered well and missed dearly. A memorial service will be held on Wed. Jan. 14th at 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen Mortuary Chapel, N. Oracle Rd. & W. Miracle Mile.
