Frederick P. Bayer's Obituary
Frederick Paul Bayer was born on June 18, 1923 in the Bronx, New York. He passed away on October 25, 2015. He was a NYPD detective for 26 years. He spent nearly four years in the US Coast Guard during World War II, most of that time on a destroyer-escort, the Hurst. After his retirement and move to Tucson in 1974 he worked for the City of Tucson Parks and Recreation golf courses for about 20 years. Fred and his wife Janet were married for 69 years. Fred and Jan have three children, Suzanne M. Reinecker (Phil), Fred P. Bayer, Jr. (Annie), Mary Ellen Druckenbrod (Robert). They also have eight grandchildren, Robert Follini, Kristen DeCoteau, Joseph Follini, Jennifer Poppe, Christian Bayer (deceased), Robin Hale, Sarah Hobby and John Hobby. Fred and Jan have also been blessed with 18 great-grandchildren. Fred is also survived by his brother Ted Bayer (Louise). A service of remembrance will be held sometime in November to celebrate his life. The family wishes to thank family and friends for their love and support, and a special thanks to Fidelity Home Care for Fred’s exceptional care for the last several years.
