Georgia Christopherson's Obituary
Georgia Christopherson passed away on October 27, 2011. Georgia was born in 1923, in Salt Lake City, to John and Gladys Ostler. She lived a full and productive life. Georgia was a devout Christian and founded the New Life Christian Counseling agency in the 1980s. She presided over the agency for 15 years before retiring to write three outstanding books, one of which was translated into the Russian language. Georgia studied music at the University of Michigan, and had the lead in several student operettas there. She moved to Tucson in 1958 after spending four years in Connecticut where her husband taught at the University of Connecticut. She was president of the women's faculty organization, and later held the same position at the University of Arizona when her husband joined the faculty there. She received her bachelor and masters degrees from the U of A. Her teaching experience included teaching music at Catalina Foothills School and at Oklahoma State (then A & M). She also offered private voice lessons. She taught the Women's Sunday School class at Casas Adobes Church in Tucson, and bible study in her home. Georgia founded the Faith Crusaders Ministry in Tucson, which in addition to teaching God's Word, furnished household items and furniture for single moms. Georgia is survived by her husband, Vic; three children, Bryan (Christine) of Tucson, Vicky (George) Begue of Columbus, Ohio and John (Kathleen) of Reno, Nevada; as well as six grandchildren, Christian and Bret Christopherson, Alex and Laura Begue, and Kevin and Erick Christopherson; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Katelyn Christopherson live in Tennessee. Georgia was a devoted mother and wife and had a life of adventure and fun visiting with friends, traveling in Australia, Europe, and the U.S. with her husband, enjoying a full life wherever she was. Her passing leaves a void in the lives of all who knew her. She will be missed, but is now enjoying her new life in the company and presence of her Lord and Savior. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 4, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. at the Faith Community Church on Orange Grove Road, Tucson. There will be a guest book available for comments and signatures.
