Gerald Sullivan Frank's Obituary
Gerald Sullivan Frank of Tucson, AZ passed away peacefully in his home on Feb. 21 2024. He departed this world with intense love and devotion for his second wife of 5 and half years, Bernice Frank. He is survived by his daughter Amanda (Jason) Oliphant, his son Neal (Andrea) Frank and his step-son Matthew (Maura) Roll. He leaves behind 5 grandkids and 4 step-grandkids who brought him great joy and opportunities for teasing. Gerry was the eldest and most obedient of 8 children born to Patricia and Col. Robert A. Frank. The Irish Catholic Air Force military family was founded in Dayton, OH, and moved around the country before settling in Hampton, VA where Gerry spent most of his youth. He is survived by 6 of his siblings and many nieces and nephews. Gerry earned a B.S. in Political Science at Marquette University, followed by a tour of duty in Vietnam with the U.S. Army, and then completed his education with a J.D. from the University of Arizona School of Law. Gerry signed on to work as an Asst. United States Attorney for the District of Arizona in 1973 and retired 40 years later. His decades of work as a Federal prosecutor earned him much respect and friendship in the Tucson community. Gerry was an avid bike rider and enjoyed hunting prairie dogs, reading, watching and playing baseball, and idolizing Clint Eastwood. Gerry is preceded in death by his loving first wife of 41 years, Kyle B. Frank. Together they provided a comfortable home near the Tucson Mountains for their children and grandchildren. Gerry is also preceded in death by his daughter Katherine Sullivan Leyva, his parents, and his brother David Frank. Gerry leaves us with cheerful memories of his wit, humorous quips, and his quiet but abundant love and support for his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday March 15, 2024 at 12 pm at the Evergreen Mortuary Chapel, 3015 N. Oracle Rd. Tucson, AZ. Burial following.
