I have faint memories of my Aunt Faye (Gladys) and Uncle Buddy (Hank) living in New York. My earliest memory is watching them play Yahtzee in my Grandmother's (Hank's mother) diner. They soon moved to the west coast and my next memories are of visiting for several weeks, and many summers, in Arizona. My aunt was a great cook and I have always loved to eat. She soon gave me the nickname "the pit" because she said I had a bottomless pit in my stomach! She always made me laugh and I loved hearing her laugh!
About a month ago I had the pleasure of visiting my aunt and uncle. As usual, I had plenty of great food (she made my favorite potato salad - which I completely devoured) and we had many laughs. I will always be grateful for being given this time to share memories, joys, and sorrows.
Fallen Limb
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me”.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we’re together again.
