Gordon Gee's Obituary
Gordon Gee of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on June 3, 2024 at the age of 67.
Gordon was born to Phillip Nguey Gim Gee and Hom Bo Gee, on March 28, 1957, in Tucson, Arizona. He graduated from Pueblo High School, then continued his education at the University of Arizona, majoring in engineering and graduating from Pima College with an associate’s degree in Auto Mechanics. He was an exceptional auto mechanic who ran his own shop by himself for many years. Further on he became a master diagnostic technician at American Fleet Services. His vast knowledge of cars often led to many other mechanics coming to him first with questions, to which he was able to answer swiftly.
In his spare time, he often enjoyed fixing and working on anything people came to him with. Whether it was something as simple as glueing something together, or completely rebuilding it, he was always willing to help. While being extremely dedicated to his profession, he was also a very loving family man. He often took both of his two sons Ryan and Derek to countless sports practices, and never missed a single game. Sometimes even jumping between two games, when both sons would be playing at the same time. Being an avid UofA sports fan, he held season tickets to UofA football games for many years, and would always stay till the end win or lose. He would also watch every UofA basketball game on TV, and always took every opportunity to see them live.
Outside of his love for sports, he enjoyed grilling and preparing food for family functions. His personal fried turkey recipe is beloved by many, and is always one of the star dishes of every meal. He also spent his free time volunteering to his local community. He was heavily involved in helping the Tucson Chinese Cultural Center host their many events all across Tucson. Even in his declining health, he still made it a point to try and volunteer as much as he could. He truly enjoyed serving people and never expected anything in return.
As his health declined, he then transitioned to passing down all of his knowledge to his sons. Everything from his fried turkey recipe, to teaching them how to diagnose and work on cars, he made sure his knowledge and passions would never be lost. Eventually the one thing he truly looked forward to was spending time with his two grandchildren. He loved playing board games with his grandson, even when he rarely won. He also loved playing pretend McDonald’s with his granddaughter, where they would make crazy food creations and eat them together. He loved his grandchildren more than anything, and lived to hear their laughter and joyful voices.
Gordon’s loving spirit is carried on by his wife, Stephanie who have been married for 39 years. Sons Ryan and Derek (Katie). Grandchildren, Aiden and Amelia. Preceded in death by brother George, surviving spouse Joyce, nephew Christopher, niece Leslie (David) and their children Emily and Kevin. Sisters, Gloria (Allen) Lew, Geraldine Gee Hom, her son Teddy (Katie) and grandson Hunter and brother Grant (Gloria) Gee.
