Helen V. Aitken's Obituary
Helen Aitken, age 81, of Tucson, Arizona departed this world June 19, 2022 to forever be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Helen was born to Leon and Luella Hoffine on June, 22, 1940 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Her father was a forest ranger, while her mother worked as a telephone operator. She attended Sandpoint High School where she made many lifelong friends. She met and married Franklin Douglas Smith, on December 25, 1960 in Mobile, Alabama where Helen worked as a commercial seamstress. Helen eventually moved to Estacada, Oregon where she spent most of her working career as a cook for Clackamas County School District. Helen spent her final years living with her eldest daughter in Tucson, Arizona. She was a long time member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Helen loved attending women’s Bible studies, ministering as an intercessory prayer warrior, spending time with and cooking for her family, working jigsaw puzzles, and finishing crosswords.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Hoffine and Luella Johnson Hoffine, her brothers Levalle and Denny Hoffine, sister Joyce Campbell, and her grandsons Christopher McJunkin and Aaron Schantin. She is survived by her brother, Steve (Ethel) Hoffine of Laramie, WY; three daughters, Theresa McJunkin of Tucson, Kristy (Steve) Williams of Canby, OR, Kathy (Brian) Clark of Tucson; son, Douglas (Debi) Smith of Milwaukie, OR; grandchildren Stephen, Johnny, Keith, Ashley, Brianna, Michael, Courtney, Nicholas, Bryant, Elyse, and Gavin; great grandchildren Kailee, Stephen, Kellen, Kielynn, Anniston, Kaysen, Kohen, Klohie, Liham, Aribella, Brynlie, Vicente, Benson, and Calian; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Mountain View Baptist Church, 3500 West Overton Road, Tucson, AZ 85742. Reception to follow in the Atrium. The service will be streamed live online at https://www.mvbctucson.org/
