Henrieta P. Gamboa's Obituary
The life of our mother, Henrieta P. Gamboa, began on October 26, 1943, in San Rafael, Durango, Mexico. She was born to Manuel Pena Subillas and Hermelinda Pena Lopez. As the 5th born, into a family of ten siblings, life was full of excitement and close family gatherings. She immigrated to the United States and lived in Arizona in the early 1960’s. It wasn’t until the late 1960’s that she then moved to Chicago, IL and worked in the carbide cutting tool business in various positions, most recently as a Quality Assurance Inspector. Mom had seven children, Olga Marie Baruffi (alive), Blanca Estela Lares (deceased), a stillborn son, Delfino Lares (alive), Javier Lares (deceased), Aida Martin (alive), Eva Eliza Gamboa (alive). She had a total of fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mom worked full time and single handedly raised her children to provide for them and give them the opportunities that she never had. She was both mother and father. Her focus was always on ensuring that her kids were able to do better than she had done. Mom was known as a strong person and a fierce protector of her children. On many occasions, she often sacrificed her joy and opportunities to ensure her children had food and clothing. Her sacrifices allowed for them to have successful lives and families of their own. Mom leaves behind a legacy that embodies the love and compassion that she always demonstrated to everyone that she met. She will be remembered fondly always by her family and all that had the privilege of meeting her and having her friendship. Mom was blessed, Mom is loved, and now, she rests.
