In Los Angeles, he met Charlene Paul, and they married in 1956 and then moved to her hometown, Tucson, Arizona in 1960.
In Tucson he started the Charlene Shops, a local women’s clothing store. The original store was opened in downtown Tucson in 1960, with other stores in Monterey Village, Amphi Plaza and in the Catalina foothills. Later, he worked as a commercial broker, heading the Tucson Commercial Roundtable organization.
He was active in the Jewish community, serving as Secretary of the Tucson Jewish Community Council in 1978 and awarded their Meritorious Service recognition in 1981 and 1984. He also was active in the Pima County Democratic Party and other civic organizations.
Ace loved playing bridge, golf and tennis. He was renowned for his quick, incisive humor and his large circle of friends.
Donations in his memory may be made to Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Tucson, or to HIAS, in recognition of her parents, who emigrated from Ukraine.
