Jae Joo Kim's Obituary
Jae Joo Kim, 78, of Green Valley, AZ, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 18, 2020 after a hard-fought month-long battle with Covid-19 at Tucson Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 5, 1942 to Hanmook Kim (father) and Changae Lee (mother) in Chungju, South Korea, and was the third of eight children. He immigrated to the United States with his wife, Seungsoon and their two children, Patty and Mike in 1974. The family originally settled in Amherst, OH, but later moved to New York City, NY, where he ran several successful family businesses prior to moving to Rio Rico, AZ. In Arizona, he and his family ran a thriving wholesale business in Nogales, AZ until he retired.
He enjoyed golfing, hiking, the outdoors, and spending time with his family. He came to know God eight years ago and it completely transformed him. He was a man of strong faith and deeply loved his church and his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. He was passionate about sharing God’s love with others, including going on a mission trip to Mexico. He was always full of joy, peace and gratitude because of his relationship with God and trusted in Him completely. Even when he was sick and suffering in the hospital with Covid-19, he knew that God loved him, would always be with him, and would take care of him regardless of the outcome.
Jae Joo Kim is preceded in death by his first wife, Seungsoon. He is survived by his second wife Gyeseon, his children, Patty and her husband Jim, Mike and his wife Sarah, Dongwoo and his wife Sangmi, Minjung and her husband Jihwan, Soyeon and her husband Eunsung, and six grandchildren, Matthew, Sophie, Minji, Minsung, Kyihae, and Elaine.
There will be a private family ceremony in Seattle, WA at a later date.
