Jan Wiesel's Obituary
Jan Wiesel passed away October 29th unexpectedly. Jan was born on November 4, 1930 in Jasina, Czechoslovakia. He was a holocaust survivor and arrived in the United States in New York in 1952 after graduating from school in Sweden. After the war, he learned his trade as a machinist. He moved to Tucson in 1960 where he worked in the family sign business as manager. After retiring, he served the Tucson Public School district as a crossing guard for over 20 years. Rain or shine he made sure the kids made it to school. His quick humor and gentleness will be sorely missed. His interests included music, playing his mandolin and accordion, watching every sporting event available on TV, and race car rally driving. He is survived by his daughter Monica Beth Wiesel of Memphis, Tennessee, his sister Bella Bleier of Tucson, nephews Paul (Frieda) and Arthur (Anne) Bleier of Phoenix and San Diego respectively, and niece Bina Wiesel Shemer (Menachem) of Israel. In addition are his grand nephews Adam (Rui), Scott (Michelle), Andrew (Jessica), Austin (Kim) and Alex (Asha) and their children Baer, Annika, and Evan. All will miss his loving personality and grand humor. "Unkie" as he was known to his family will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Handmaker Nursing Home.
