Janet Nazzaro Corey's Obituary
Janet Nazzaro Corey passed away June 19, 2016 a victim of relentless cancer. She was born July 3, 1945 in Santa Monica, CA. Her father, Col. Joseph J. Nazzaro, was under orders to join a B-29 Group stationed in Okanawa and departed when she was 3 weeks old. His return the following June was a joyous occasion. Her life as an Air Force dependent involved frequent changes of residence, and she attended schools in Virginia, Georgia, Sidi Slimane AFB in Morocco, California, Massachusetts, and graduated in 1967 from Colorado Women’s College in Denver. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of Hawaii. In 1971, she established residence in Scottsdale, AZ and after a few years she became manager of Hunter’s Books, where she was known and respected by her fellow merchants.
In December 1989, Janet married George Corey and went to live with him in Laguna Beach, CA. After a few years of volunteer work, she became the registrar of the Laguna Beach High School, a position she occupied for eight years. She then moved to Tucson, AZ in 2004, bought a home in Arcadia Square and was very active in their Home Owners Association.
Janet left this earth on June 19, 2016 and went to join her sister Barbara in the Beautiful Beyond. She is survived by her mother Helen Nazzaro, her beloved niece Hilary Pruss and family of Pasadena, CA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Janet Nazzaro Corey to the Boys and Girls Club of Tucson would be appreciated.
