I first met Janis when I was putting in an industrial kitchen for my employer. I loved her work ethic and her knowledge. So much so that I offered her a job. She and I worked together for 3 years until our employer decided to shut down. Whenever I had a task that involved someone getting done, I turned to Janis. She was one tough cookie.
We remained friends and while she was in the rehab center I saw her at least weekly. She was determined to beat this cancer as she wanted to see her kids graduate from high school. And boy did she try. I want her children to know you were always on her mind and she loved you to the ends of the earth. You were what she thought about when she woke each day and when she finally fell asleep at night.
While in the rehab facility, I would often run into her mom and dad. They were as much as they could be. When her father passed away she was devastated. Not only for herself, also for her Mom. Her mom was her rock.
When I moved away I couldn’t see her so we talked on the phone. I miss her, her no bullshit attitude, her absolute unshakable love for her kids and mom.
My sincere condolences to Samantha, Alex, Bethany, Dylan and her Mom, Rita. You were the reason she lived. I know she’s no longer in pain and we are left with some really good memories. Her love will always be with us.
Until we meet again, my friend.
