Jason Tyler Hoey's Obituary
Born December 14, 1982, in Jacksonville, Florida, Jason Tyler Hoey passed away at the young age of 34 in Tucson, Arizona, last week.
At the age of 11 months, Jason moved north to Park Ridge, Illinois, with his mother Lynn (Males) Hoey who was originally from the Chicago area. In 1988, his mother married Gary Emerson, father to Kristin (11) and Kelly (9), and they lived in Des Plaines, Illinois. Jason’s new sisters loved playing with and dressing up their younger brother. At the same time, Jason's father Kevin Hoey and stepmother Marian (Adams) Hoey also moved to Des Plaines.
Jason was a very creative, funny and talented young man. He began violin and saxophone in elementary school and was self-taught on guitar, drums and keyboards and played many other instruments. His favorite was his guitar. Jason was always the center of attention because of his humor and quick wit. His humor and laughter were infectious.
He played baseball from a young age up until his late teens and was a great hitter and player. Another of his favorite pastimes was riding BMX bikes. He and his friends were always building ramps and jumps at home and in the nearby forests. He became very talented at BMXing and was a role model for his younger brother, Jordan, who was born when Jason was 8. Jordan always tried to do everything Jason did despite their age difference.
In 2000, the Emerson family moved to Wisconsin, just across the border from Illinois. Jason was 18 years old at the time and lived in their Wisconsin house for about a year before moving to his own apartment in Kenosha, Wisconsin. At about this time, his father and stepmother moved to Arizona.
He continued to hone his musical skills by writing music and lyrics and playing his guitar and making music. Jason also began selling his mixing and recording services to other musicians in the area and performed at many open mic sessions in Wisconsin and Illinois.
In 2012, Jason moved back to Illinois to be closer to his high school friends. He also began producing numerous videos, using mostly his own songs. We're so thankful that these will forever be part of the YouTube catalog. A year or so after moving to Illinois, Jason met and married Daniella Santangelo. Their marriage lasted a few short years, but they continued to stay connected until his death.
Jason wanted a real change of scenery in 2016. He had always liked visiting Arizona, where his father Kevin and stepmother Marian had lived for many years, so he moved there in May 2016. He loved the desert scenery, the mountain views, and the sunshine.
On the evening of Wednesday, June 21, Jason visited his neighbor's house stating he didn't feel well. While there, Jason laid down. He was called home at 11:54 p.m. We know he is at peace and will be forever pain free. He will be greatly missed by his entire family and everyone whose life he touched.
Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents Mary Ann (Smith) (Males) Rezektko and Patrick J. Hoey, as well as his cousins Nicholas Covelli, and Kyle Kenneth Mrowiec. He is survived by his parents Gary and Lynn (Males) Emerson and Kevin and Marian (Adams) Hoey, his grandmother Rose Hoey, his grandparents Jeremy and Carolyn (Cook) (Canetta) Males, his sisters Kristin Emerson and Kelly (Emerson) Neurauter, brother-in-law Herb Neurauter, brother Jordan Emerson, niece Lily Emerson Neurauter, and nephews Jacob Charles Neurauter and Sage Riley Emerson, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jason, we'll love you forever!
