Jerome S. Smith's Obituary
Jerome Spencer Smith of New York City, New York, East Windsor, New Jersey and Tucson, Arizona, died on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. He was 72. He was born on August 5, 1943 in The Bronx, New York to the late Louis Smith and the late Minerva Gruber Smith, brother to the late Richard Alan Smith. He attended Baruch College of the City University of New York and received a Bachelor’s Degree of Business Administration. On June 13, 1965 he married Natalie Dorothy Garelick, of Manhattan and Queens, New York, and together they had 2 children, Matthew Elliott and Douglas Michael. Jerome worked as a credit officer in both Chemical Bank of New York and later Bank Hapoalim, an Israeli Bank. A man of many talents, Jerome’s interests included music, bird photography, woodworking, golf, and cooking. Jerome was a family man in his heart and soul and cared deeply about them. He was also community-minded, devoting volunteer time to both the Food Bank of Tucson and Habitat for Humanity. His family will forever miss him. Jerome is survived by his wife of 50 years Natalie, his son Matthew and daughter in law Anna Maria Fontana of Camisano Vicentino, Italy, his son Douglas and daughter in law Claire Denise Smith and their two sons Ivan Louis James Smith and Harrison William Joseph Smith of Orinda, California . Also, his sister-in-law Julia Smith, wife of the late Richard Alan Smith, and their two children, Jerome’s niece and nephew, Jessica Smith and Alexander Smith. A memorial service organized by the family will be held at Evergreen Mortuary at 10 a.m. on December 29th, 2015. Memorial donations may be made in Jerome’s name to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. https://www.communityfoodbank.org/
