John W. Furtney's Obituary
Furtney, John W. “Jack; Buddy”, 89 of Catalina passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016. Beloved husband of Barbara Jean Furtney; step father of Frank (Lynette) DeVine of Illinois and grandfather of Wade Stanton DeVine. Also survived by his loving pet and companion GiGi. Proceeded in death by his brother Leo Furtney. Jack was a veteran of US Navy and upon his discharge worked for Hughes Aircraft before becoming a supervisor at Abrams Airborne for thirty plus years, retiring 27 years ago. During his retirement Jack and his wife Barbara Jean enjoyed traveling across the US and Canada sightseeing and especially to watch air shows. Jack enjoyed working on many different types of projects and was very handy. He was also an aviator, owned his own plane, and rode horses and motorcycles. During his lifetime he touched the hearts of many and will be missed by all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 24th at Faith Tabernacle Church, 5011 E. Ft. Lowell Rd. with Pastor Paul Conner officiating. Arrangement entrusted to Evergreen Mortuary and Cemetery.
