Joseph Daniel Doherty's Obituary
Joseph Daniel Doherty, 82 of Tucson, AZ. Born in Boston, Massachusetts. April 23, 1931, to Clement and Emma Doherty of Charlestown, Massachusetts, died October 9, 2013, after a prolonged battle with cancer. He is survived by his sister Emma Burke, natural sons Joseph Doherty Jr. and Dennis Doherty and step children Robert Perry (Gale), Diana Davis (Gene), Debby Bast (Gary). Kathy Chester (Frank), and James Kelly (Jackie). With the combined family he had 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant. Mr. Doherty graduated from the University of Arizona in 1982 with a Major in Education and Minor in History. He enjoyed teaching in Public Schools until he felt called to teach Special ED. His patience and enthusiasm influenced the lives of many students. For many years he was a member of the Southern Arizona Model Engineer Railroad Club and volunteered at the Tucson, AZ V.A. hospital transporting patients. Before losing his eye sight he enjoyed wood working and model ship building. He will be sorely missed. Visitation Sunday October 13th from 5 8 PM at EVERGREEN MORTUARY CHAPEL, N Oracle Rd & Miracle Mile; a funeral mass will be offered 10:30 AM Monday, October 14th at St. Josephs Catholic Church, 215 S Craycroft Blvd. Interment to follow in EVERGREEN CEMETERY.
