Judith was a wonderful friend and respected, valued member of our El Rio Foundation family. Her commitment to women and children, public health, midwifery and the underserved were unwavering, trail blazing and inspirational.
The ribbons you see her wearing in the photo were her idea to recognize donors. I am forever grateful for her help developing our major giving and Legacy programs as a Board champion of these areas.
Judith was the program director of the Pathways to Midwifery program at SUNY when I entered the program there--the first out-of-New York--state student, the first entering with a preexisting doctoral degree (public health) and not knowing that she and my husband already had a collegial relationship through their China anthropology work. What fun it was for Gene and me to discover that Judith was a part of both of our lives! We enjoyed visiting with her in Tucson but most of all, I really appreciated her encouragement of my application. I remember her telling me that she, like me, entered midwifery beyond our original professions. She was a wonderful mentor and friend. Barbara Anderson
