Julian Dombrowski was my friend and I loved him. We met at the Raging Sage some years ago when I noticed he was reading an author I liked. We found out that we both had a love for writing and enjoyed many of the same authors. We stayed in communication through video chats. I still have the transcripts of our conversations. I had recently returned to Tucson and when I called to visit him I found out he was gone. All my love to Julian's family and friends.

Julian was my favorite of the Dombroski
brothers. May he Rest In Peace. I have known him since his birth and recall the days before he was diagnosed.
We were shocked to hear of Julian's passing. We saw him so often at Raging Sage and we will miss our conversations. He was always astute and a great conversationalist, always focused on what he could accomplish, not on what he couldn't.
Julien was my cafe companion daily at Raging Sage, where he had a faithful coterie and many, many friends. People were drawn by the sunlight of his personality--his network was vast. I shared so many conversations with him and enjoyed his brilliant mind and his incredible perseverance and talent in his creative activities. We talked about his classes (most recently, anthropology), movies, science fiction, everything imaginable. I will miss so much about him--his ironic looks across the table, his double entendres, his openness, his nuances--and, needless to say--his courage.
I attended your lovely service for Julian yesterday virtually. Thank you for making that option available to those of us who couldn't attend in person. I was moved by the rabbi's song, the poetry and the memories shared. I only met Julian once but he made a strong impression. I was struck by his radiant presence, how despite his severe limitations he was able to lead and encourage. That workshop was the first time I ever read my poetry in public. I will always be grateful to Julian for that -- the confidence he gave me, which led to more readings and more success as a poet and writer. I will remember him and miss his beautiful presence in a world that could use more of that kind of grit, positivity and courage.

Julian Dombrowski was my best friend in Elementary school and my mom just called to tell me he passed away last weekend. He was a creative and intelligent person whose disability was incredibly hard on his body but was always utilizing creative ways to make his dreams a reality. RIP JULES - May your memory be a Blessing.

Long before I really met Julian, I would see him on his chair around Tucson. He went everywhere on that chair back when he could still operate it. I would also see him at Coffee Exchange. Then when it closed, I started to see him at Raging Sage and we would talk from time to time. Lately, we starting talking more. He lived life to the fullest even though he had his challenges and Covid lurking. I think that that's how I'll remember him sitting in the sun surrounded by friends.
