Karel Vohnout's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Karel and Cecilia Vohnout announce their passing. Karel Vohnout passed on 1-24-19 at the age of 86 years old and was joined by his beloved wife Cecilia soon after on 2-19-19 at the age of 81 years old. Karel, born on 9-3-32, and Cecilia, born on 6-3-37, were both born in Quito, Ecuador, lived long and happy lives together, married for over 62 years and have taken this new journey together.
Karel was a PhD in Agronomy and Animal Physiology and worked as a researcher for many years for the Organization of American States in Costa Rica. He is a published author and was an avid body builder, cyclist and nutritionist. He loved to take photographs and enjoyed having picnics with the family. Upon retirement he and Cecilia relocated to Tucson, Arizona to be with their cherished daughters and family. Cecilia loved to cook, entertain and had a love of playing cards and dominos (usually winning). She also had a passion for arts and crafts, and making jewelry. Going to the Tucson Gem Show was one of her favorite activities. More than anything, they loved their family.
Karel and Cecilia are survived by, and will forever be remembered by their two daughters, Cecilia (Vohnout) Romero and Sonia Isabel Vohnout, both currently of Tucson Arizona. They are also survived by their three grandchildren, Isabel, Giovanni, Ivan, great granddaughter Bianca, and step grandkids.
The interment of Karel and Cecilia’s ashes will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery, 3015 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, Az 85705 on March 23, 2019 at 10:30 am. In lieu of gifts or flowers, we ask that you donate to the Parkinson and Movement Disorder Alliance. There will be a private memorial lunch after the interment of the ashes to celebrate their lives.
