Kathy P.J. Lee's Obituary
Kathy P. J. Lee, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona. She lived a long and happy full life. She was loved deeply and will be missed greatly by her family.
Kathy married Gene Q.J. Lee in China. She came to this country and lived in Tucson since 1947. She was a stay at home mom and she raised five children. She became a U.S. citizen in 1966.
For approximately 2 years, Kathy worked in the family-owned grocery store in Tucson. She also assisted in the childcare of her three oldest grandchildren. After the grocery store closed in 1974, Kathy and Gene would periodically travel to visit family and friends in New York City China town, Hawaii, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Torrance, California, etc. From 1986 — 2000, they also enjoyed going to Las Vegas twice a year to experience the exciting atmosphere, do some light gambling and eat at various Chinese restaurants.
Kathy and Gene were married for 55 years until he passed away. Kathy is survived by her children — Chester Lee (Terri deceased) of Phoenix, Linda Lee Paschal (Richard) of Tucson, Bryan Lee (Betty) of Mesa, Wanda Lee Carson (Dan) of Phoenix and Terry Lee of Tucson. She had nine grandchildren — Geena, Alexander (Julia), Christine (Mike), Nathaniel (Diana), Anson, Kristen, Stacy (Tariq), Andrew and Lacey (Jon). She had seven great grandchildren — Ivy, Lily, Beau, Theo, Noah, Alice and Tegan.
Kathy is survived by her sister Ms. Judy Lum of Portland, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Q.J. Lee, her father, George Kai Eng and her mother, Ann Eng and one eldest sister, Helen Cheung.
