Kenneth W. Kunkle Sr.'s Obituary
Ken Kunkle was born on August 5, 1929 in Effort Pennsylvania, a little town in Northeastern, Pa. His parents, Harry and Elsie Kunkle raised Ken along with five other brothers on a two-story farmhouse where all six brothers were born! Ken served in the United States Army in Okinawa during the Korean War from 1951-1953.
Ken was a carpenter by trade, building homes in the Pocono Mountains of Pa as well as Binghamton NY area. In 1978, he brought those carpenter skills with him to Tucson, Arizona, where he made and sold those famous hand carved wood burning walking sticks and various desert pictures. He enjoyed selling them at all the craft fairs throughout Arizona!
Ken is survived by his beloved bride of 70 years, Ella Hoffman Kunkle, and his three children, Ken Jr, Robin Kunkle Sudweeks, and Hope Kunkle Reynolds. He also has one living brother, Joseph Kunkle who resides in Kunkletown, PA. with his wife Betty.
Ken has four grandchildren; Stacy Kunkle Huerta, Kristy Kunkle Oboyski, Shawna Sudweeks, and Sarah Sudweeks Patton.
Ken has also been blessed with four great-grandchildren: Christian Huerta, Quintin Huerta, Kennedy Oboyski and Bella Oboyski. They were all present at Ella’s 90th birthday party on Easter Sunday to say their farewells to their beloved Grandfather and Great-grandfather, whom they fondly called “Poppum”.
Pastor Scott Richards of Calvary Chapel will preside over the services.
