Laurence James McMahon's Obituary
Laurence James McMahon, 85, was born in Melbourne, Australia on May 15th, 1938. He passed away on May 11th in Tucson, Arizona surrounded by his son, daughter, and loving wife of almost 50 years.
Laurence was a mechanical engineer. He started an apprenticeship at age 15 and worked his way up to become the Chief Design Engineer. He managed, designed, and built a wide range of crushing and screening plants across many countries including Australia, China, South East Asia, and the United States. In his earlier years he served on the special forces unit of the Australian Army, and played professional Australian rules football (footy). He later went on to coach, and led his team to three premierships (championships). His greatest loves were being surround by his family and friends, football, and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Connie McMahon, his son Bart McMahon, his daughter Jacinta Mitchell, and his grandchildren.
Laurence's visitation will take place on Monday, May 20th, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM at the Evergreen Mortuary Chapel. Following the visitation, a rosary will be held at 10:30 AM at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, located at 1800 S Kolb Rd, Tucson, AZ 85710. The funeral Mass will then commence at 11:00 AM at the same location.
