Lauri Schacter Enderle Privett's Obituary
Lauri Schacter Enderle Privett, born in New York City on May 31, 1949, passed away peacefully at her home in Tucson, Arizona on July 27, 2024 surrounded by love from her family. Her final week was filled with love and music from her beloved husband of forty years, Tom, close friends and her family. Lauri is survived by the love of her life, Tom “Popo” Privett, her daughter Danica, her son Damian, her sister Diane, and nieces Viki, Melanie and Ashleigh. Lauri also had six amazing grandchildren who were her pride and joy: Danica’s boys, Turner, Drew and Braedan, and Damian’s kids Dalyn, Carson, and of course her only granddaughter, Gracelyn, who called her Macaroni (Mama Lauri).
Lauri was preceded in death by her mother Betty (Mama Betty) Lewis, father Morton Schacter, her stepdad Bob Lewis, as well as the father of her children, Hardy Enderle.
Lauri graduated Glen Cove High School and continued on to The Fashion Institute of NYC, graduating with an Associate’s degree. She was a dancer and actress, and had several roles in stage plays and some movies. Her daughter Danica even played an extra alongside her in a couple of movies. Lauri had a long career at the Educational Enrichment Foundation as the Director of Nonprofits, then ultimately began her own business with Tom and Damian, Personally Delivered, which was quite successful for many years. She was a long-time member of the Michael Landon Tennis Tournament board, where she enjoyed meeting many celebrities and making great long-time friends. She was very involved in Tom’s music and bands, often coordinating gigs, helping Tom to write songs, and attending every gig up until she was unable to. Lauri loved going to concerts, and loved The Beatles, Carole King and James Taylor; she and Tom saw JT many times. She loved going to Bingo with Vik, and playing Keno and slots, where she was quite lucky at games of chance. She also loved cruising with her Cayamo Family, the Arizona Wildcats basketball team, Circus Peanuts, 3 Musketeers bars, Red Vines, Jamoca ice cream and Swedish Fish. She always had quite the sweet tooth!
Lauri was a collector of things: vases, pill boxes, old $2 bills, but mostly she collected people. Her family, music family, friends, and her many connections were all over the world. She was an amazing, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and especially loving wife to Tom, who was the most amazing caregiver to her, right up to the very end. She loved fiercely and would have done anything to protect the ones she loved the most. If you were part of her collection, she certainly loved you. Lauri was loved by many and enjoyed connecting people. Sometimes they married each other, other times they became old friends, but it was that connection at which she excelled.
Lauri will be laid to rest next to her mother, Betty Lewis, and grandmother, Blanche Jessel, at Evergreen Cemetery privately with her immediate family on Friday, August 2, 2024.
There will be a celebration of life held at the Privett House, a good ole fashioned house party, music jam and open house potluck, where we know she will be in attendance in spirit on Saturday, September 7th at 2 p.m. We hope friends and family will join us then!
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Lauri’s name to Planned Parenthood: www.plannedparenthood.org
Lauri would often say, “Don’t sweat the small stuff, and it’s all small stuff”.
Peace & Love to Lauri, she will be forever loved and greatly missed.
