Jack Nusan Porter
Lovely Laurie and I go way back to the 50s . Her grandfather was my Hebrew teacher. Her parents were active in Labor Zionism. Her father Paul Melrood was a popular Yiddish actor and Yiddishist in Milwaukee.
I was Rosh of Milwauker Habonim/Dror Labor Zionists and worked with Laurie. She was a camper at Camp Tavor, the Labor Zionist camp in Three Rivers, Michigan.
Everybody loved Laurie. Her love of humanity and her service to her community and the world came out of her experiences above and the example of her parents and grand parents.
May her memory be a blessing.
