Lawrence Tsui's Obituary
Lawrence Tsui was only 21 when he died, but he did not die of natural causes. He transferred to be a junior at the University of Arizona majoring in geography. He loves the heat and thought heat and the U of A would be the best combination for him. He had many roadblocks during the enrollment process but his loving father helped him along the way. He appreciated it very much, but it was just too much for him to bear. Due to a special circumstance, he found himself lonely and in an alone moment jumped to his death from the most scenic spot looking to the south side of town, on the top floor of the Sixth Street garage.
Lawrence was born in San Jose, California on December 8, 1995 soon after his parents moved into a new home. He went to Toyon Elementary. He excelled in remembering all the president and vice presidents names of United States along with all the states and their capitals, never making a mistake. He recited multiplication tables before entering the first grade. He did make some mistakes due to similar Chinese rhythm. He went to Pietmont Middle School where he was good enough to participate in regional Geography Bee contest sponsored by Google. He graduated from Independent High in 2014. While in high school he took guitar and piano classes, but not excel in them. Different from his mother, he was very good at English, though he found it difficult to write when presented with a subject he was not familiar with.
He did not want to be too far from home when he finally selected his college. He chose Cal State East Bay in Hayward, California, but found it boring in less than two years. While his parents were selling the childhood home in San Jose, he had a chance to move to his family’s home in Tucson where he had been many times.
But he did not live very long. This may have been due to a bad spirit that caused him to be unlucky. Nuns at the Chinese temple foretold that due to his grandmothers death exactly one month ago, would bring bad luck to anyone in the family born in the year of the boar. He was one of two family members born in the year of the boar. On the day he died, his father dropped him off at school near his first class after the good news from the president of U of A that he would be allowed to continue his classes. He just needed to get the instructor approval to continue. He walked across campus to the Sixth Street garage. Midway, he passed next to Koffler building where a student fell to his death at exactly one year ago. Divine power might be at work, his life ended shortly within an hour. He jumped in front of his most scenic view on campus. There will be no legacy continuation. He was the only child of aging parents.
Arizona Daily Star “The man, who was not a student, was discovered early Thursday afternoon near the garage. He was unconscious but breathing and transported to Banner University Medical Center for treatment ……… He was pronounced dead at 12:47 p.m.” (on 26th of January, 2017). He did not have a visible scratch and bump from the frontal side of his body. While breathing for that short minute, perhaps he was saying good bye to his parents: “Mommy, Daddy, I am sorry, I don’t know why I jump, I have everything I want in my short entire life.”
He will be lay to rest in the middle of Evergreen Cemetery next to Ft. Lowell, beneath the overhead utility line, after the donation of his organs, so that, somehow, his spirit could live on.
Major divine characters: grand mom, Koffler Building, and Dolores in Admission. (He was being told he needs to learn from his mistake)
His SAT score: 780 600 490
His ACT score: 28
And many many Honor Rolls
