Kivel, Rabbi Lee Avram, 80, born November 5, 1932 to Joseph and Esther Kivel in Los Angeles, CA. Beloved husband of Jane R. Kivel of Tucson; devoted father of Ronald (Susan) Kivel of Saugerties, NY, Harvey Kivel of Tucson, Caren August of Colorado Springs, CO; cherished grandfather to Justin Kivel of Tucson, Matthew Kivel of Saugerties, NY, Jordan August and Vanessa Svihla of Colorado Springs, CO; and dear brother of Foster (Carol) Kivel; brother-in-law of Patricia Ballard of Tucson; dear uncle of Elizabeth (James) Megna of Syracuse, NY and Peter Koenig of Tucson. A graduate of NYU and Rabbinical School, Rabbi Kivel served as a Rabbi for 17 years before retiring to Tucson, where he was involved in the family business of commercial real estate, which included Park Mall, El Con Mall and many other businesses. He was a great supporter of the School of Theater, Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Rabbi Kivel loved Opera and enjoyed Broadway Musicals, Theater, movies and all of the arts. Rabbi was a published author of the children's' book entitled "The Lonely Train." He loved to travel, was an avid reader and worked crossword puzzles with an ink pen. Rabbi Kivel was a member of Congregation Anshei Israel and Congregation Chofetz Chayim. Services will be held Friday, March 15, 2013, 11:00 AM at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile, with Rabbi Robert Eisen, Rabbi Arthur Oleisky and Rabbi Israel Becker officiating. Interment Congregation Anshei Israel Section of Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Handmaker Home for the Aging, Congregation Anshei Israel, the Jane and Lee Kivel Guest Artist Endowment U of A, P.O. Box 210003, Tucson, AZ 85721 or to the charity of your choice.
