Leon Bear's Obituary
Leon Bear, born in Brooklyn, NY on June 16, 1925, died June 15, 2012 in Tucson. Devoted father of David (Ruth) Bear, Alice Bear (Thomas Morris), Marian (Samuel) Hall; dear brother of Harold (Rita) Bear, cherished grandfather of Dylan Morris. Mr. Bear served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He graduated in Accounting from City College of New York in 1948 and married Naomi R. Dumas in 1949, who preceded him in death in 2008. Mr. Bear was a public accountant and practiced in Tucson from 1948 until his retirement in 2000. His past professional associations included: Founding member of Arizona Society of Public Accountants (1949 -1976 when the guild was disbanded in 1976); National Society of Accountants, member since 1953 and Arizona Society of Practicing Accountants since 1983. Active in the community, he was involved with the Arizona Diabetes Association, Sam Hughes Neighborhood Association and Himmel Park Library. He was an active member of Congregation Anshei Israel. Leon was a kind and gentle soul with great personal integrity who was deeply devoted to his family, clients and community. Interment was in the Congregation Anshei Israel Section of Evergreen Cemetery, with Rabbi Robert Eisen officiating.
