In Loving Memory of Linda Sue (Shockey) Kraus
Linda Sue (Shockey) Kraus, 72, died on November 4, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona from Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Deadwood, South Dakota, on June 13, 1953, to Elmer and Laura Shockey, the eighth of ten
children. Linda grew up in the Black Hills and attended Deadwood schools, graduating from Deadwood High School in 1971.
Following high school, Linda and her sister Carlene managed a credit bureau in Spearfish, where Linda developed the strong work ethic, reliability, and organizational skill she carried throughout her life. She later moved to California, where she worked for a leather clothing manufacturer and lighting company before eventually building a long and meaningful career alongside her future husband.
In 1984, Linda married the love of her life, Al Kraus, in Spearfish, SD. Al operated a lighting fixture sales business, and Linda became the office manager, a role in which she excelled with her characteristic patience and dedication. When Al retired, they moved to Laguna Niguel, California, where they enjoyed a quieter pace and time together. Several years later, they relocated to Tucson, Arizona, where they made their home for many years before eventually settling in Marana.
Linda is survived by her brothers Richard (Linda), Lloyd, Roger (Cheryl) and Kevin (Ginny); her stepchildren Lisa (Brian) Cohen, Michael, Monique, Jared and numerous nieces and nephews. Special friend CarolAnn. She treasured her family deeply and held each of them close to her heart.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Al; her parents, Elmer and Laura; her sisters Karen, Carolyn, and Carlene; her brothers Merle and Gale, brother-in-law Carlyle “Baldy” and sister-in-law Kathe.
Linda will be remembered as a loving sister, devoted stepmother, and loyal friend. Her gentle spirit, compassion, and steady presence enriched the lives of all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held in the Black Hills of South Dakota next summer. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Spearfish, South Dakota.
