Louise Shapiro's Obituary
A longtime resident of Tucson, passed away on October 4, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman. Louise was an elementary school teacher for 32 years. She taught 4th, 5th, 6th grades at Davidson Elementary School and Lynn's Elementary School. Mrs. Shapiro loved teaching and loved her students. Louise was born in Alabama and her family moved to New York City, where she graduated from Hunter College. She received her Master's degree in Education from the University of Arizona. Louise met her beloved husband, Norman while working as a camp counselor in Philadelphia. They married in 1948 and moved to Tucson, Arizona, where they raised their four children, Alan (Sallie), Philip (Beatriz), Susan (Heshy) and David (Ina-Sue). She has ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. With Norman, she became a world traveler and enjoyed visiting many countries including England, Belgium, Holland, China, Hong Kong and Singapore. Because her daughter Susan lives in Israel, Louise has visited there often. Louise was an avid reader, devotee of rug hooking and a constant participant in religious services and activities both at Congregation Anshei Israel and Handmaker. She volunteered for many years at UMC as a patient relation ambassador, as well as the Congregation Anshei Israel gift shop. Services will be held Sunday, October 6, 2013, 2:30 P.M. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. Interment to follow in the Congregation Anshei Israel Section of Evergreen Cemetery
