EULOGY
Louise Bettina Siddall, affectionately known as Mom, Grandma, Louie B, Bettina; was the daughter of Ms. Irene Adinah Poohle Alexander and Mr. William Swain. She was born in Tucson Stork Nest Hospital on Thursday, 8th February 1945. There was no Leap Year that year and Mom belonged to the generation known as the “Silent Generation” – wow Mom must have been the special one in that generation…Silent – NOT. Louise Bettina Siddall was called home to the LORD on Sunday, 5th September 2021.
Louise was raised by her mother in the first five years of her life. It takes a village, from her Mom’s home she went into the loving hands of her grandparents Ms. Bertha Jones, affectionately known as Mom Bertha and Mr. Will Jones, also known as Daddy Will. Daddy Will was the second husband of Mom Bertha. Daddy Will saw something very special in Louise as he truly adored her, and she adored him. Louise, I guess you could say was a Daddy’s Girl; a Daddy Will’s Girl as she knew exactly how to get anything she wanted from him. During this time Louise’s mother Adinah dissolved her relationship with her then husband Charlie Alexander and she moved to California to live with her cousin Armstead G Jameson (also known as AG). Daddy Will took ill, by now Louise was approximately 10 years old and she returned to the home of her mother, Adinah, who was now back in Arizona. Moving can sometimes be difficult on a young child but the one constant in young Louise’s village, a rock, and a foundation for her (and her family) is her aunt, Ms. Metella Brown. Auntie has always been there and continues to be there.
Louise accompanied her good friend Beverly to a fashion show rehearsal at the Elks Lodge. The fashion show and the singing group the Encores were featured acts. Louise young and adventurous went to the show, and she caught the eye of one of the singers, Fredie Lee Siddall. Fredie and Louise were married 17 December 1959.
The year was 1960, the month November, the married couple set off on a trip to New York City. Moving across the country in a Greyhound Bus in the midst of segregation, young Louise had no idea what to expect. New York City, the newness of her atmosphere was exciting and frightening at the same time; Louise had a fear of the dreaded New York City Taxi Driver! For the first time in her life, Louise saw snow and marveled at the beauty of the white stuff falling from the sky. For the first seven months Fredie and his new bride Louise lived with Fredie’s parents Fred and Virginia Siddall Grandpa Fred had a true admiration for Louise. Things were a little tight in the beginning, the couple slept in a twin bed.
The young couple started their family, the first born, DeLisa Yvette Siddall and the next Frederick Dehonce Siddall. Louise had more personal ambition and continued her education; something that would play an intricate part in her life and the lives of her family. She attended night classes in a downtown Brooklyn facility, Fredie typed her papers while she was in school, and she was awarded a high school diploma. The young couple then extended the family two more times, the next born, Maura Siddall Walcott and the youngest Amber Dawn Webber.
Louise started her professional career while caretaking for her first 2 children, DeLisa and Fredrick, as a teachers aid at Public School 110 in Brooklyn, New York. From there she went on to become a Switchboard Operator at Greenpoint Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. Her last position was in Queens Hospital as a Supervisor in the Social Services department.
With the thirst for education still growing Louise attended Queens College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology.
Daughter DeLisa was the first of the family to make roots in Arizona, the next was daughter Amber and her husband Craig. In 2001, Louise moved back to Tucson with her husband Fredie, followed by daughter Maura and her husband Delano then, son Fred and his wife Caroline and their family.
Louise and Fredie built a strong foundation for their family; they eventually left the borough of Brooklyn, NY and moved to a small town in Queens, NY called Cambria Heights where they purchased their first home. The couple provided things for the family of immeasurable value; a foundation structed with love and understanding while instilling values that would set them up for success. Louise was determined to give her family and children the experience of exploring nature through camping trips, family outings, and all-day trips in the van – sometimes without any physical destination but by the end of the trip all embraced the spiritual destination.
In her journey home Louise is survived by her loving husband Fredie Lee Siddall, their children, Delisa Yvette Siddall and her husband Jessie Davis, Frederick Dehonce Siddall and his wife Caroline Siddall, Maura Siddall Walcott and her husband Delano Walcott, and Amber Dawn Webber and her husband Craig. Louise has seven grandchildren, Erin Siddall Lindsay, Justin Gordon, Danielle Siddall, Alyssia Siddall, Frederick Brandon Siddall, Bryce Walcott, and Rhys Walcott. To carry on her legacy into the next century are five great grandchildren, Jordan Jenkins, Brooklyn Lindsay, Patrick Hair, Amare Lindsay, and Kai Siddall: a strong legacy indeed. Louise also leaves behind a numerous host of family members and friends.
Mom is an ADVENTURER, Mom is an EXPLORER, Mom is a LIFE GUIDE, Mom is a MOM, Mom is a WIFE.
Louie B in your adventurous nature we know you wanted to go and check things out for us, we miss you and we will see you soon.
