Lucy! I met her when I was the Elementary Art Teacher at Pine Island School and she was the Middle School Art Teacher & the English Teacher. She shared her room with me and we became fast friends. We did our Masters degrees together; she organized and hired a typist for ALL of our group's thesis papers. Rena was my babysitter during all of that time. She was always an organizer and a go-getter, and she shared her resources with everyone. She also shared her wisdom, her optimism, her outrageous humor, and her HEART with everyone. She was such a touchstone for me and we spoke every day, even when she moved to AZ. I cried for a week when she died and I still wonder how I'll DO LIFE without her. She fought like a bandit for her life and persevered longer than anyone ever expected her to; only IF they didn't KNOW Lucy. I know Rena, Jarret, Hugh, Nolan, Harrison, Aiden and Maya will be her legacy and they were always her "greatest Hits". Your loving devotion to her during her illness was honestly the most beautiful gift any child could give a parent. Her many accomplishments as an Educator, PHD, Golden Apple Winner, Superintendent, College Professor, Leukemia Fundraiser, Charity organizer, World Traveler, were a distant second to her love for her family. You were her everything! I will miss her every day and I think of her constantly, especially around the time when I'd expect her call. She was SO PROUD of her children and her grandchildren. You kept her going, and you made her life a JOYOUS ride. With admiration, Margaret
