Luis Javier Guerrero's Obituary
Luis Javier Guerrero, known to friends and family as Lou or Big Lou, passed away on April 17th, 2023, at the age of 56. He was born on September 7th, 1966, in Douglas Arizona to parents Rosa and Jose “Cheche” Guerrero, and was one of seven siblings. Lou was a devoted son, affectionate brother and loving father. He was a caregiver for his mother until her passing, and remained close to his siblings throughout his life.
He is survived by the mothers of his children Ana Medina and Magdalena Olivas, his son Louie (Arlette) Guerrero, daughter Stephanie (James) Lopez, son Jorge Guerrero (Jose Chanez), sister Therese (Jeff) Hatfield, sister Elsa (Rollin) Pratt, sister Norma (Alvin) Jardin, brother Rene (Maria Urquijo Meza) brother Jeremy (Yoly) Guerrero and sister-in-law Theresa Guerrero. Grandchildren, Mariana & Ariana Guerrero and Jamie, Dylanardo, Victoria, & Violette Lopez, many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by stepchildren Priscilla, Michael, Ismael and Grace Olivas. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joe Guerrero, his nephew Jacob Guerrero, his grandson Louie Guerrero and his nephew Ritchie Pratt. Lou had a heart of gold with a beautiful soul.
He had a positive attitude, and was loved by all who knew him. He was a born again Christian and a man of faith, offering praise and prayers to everyone he knew. Lou loved to dance and enjoyed music. Although he experienced many obstacles on his journey here on earth, he never gave up the fight; which lead him with a desire to help family and others in need, not only monetarily but with his time and undivided attention.
His famous words were “vamonos recio!” or “let’s do this!” He was known for his caring nature. He was a Bail bondsman who appeared to be more of a counselor; providing guidance and care to families of loved ones who were incarcerated. He was also a construction framer, working in Tucson and Phoenix in his earlier years.
A Funeral Service for Lou will be held on May 1st, 2023, at 9:30am, at St. Augustine Cathedral at 192 S Stone Ave, Tucson AZ 85701.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Catholic Community Services , Kolbe Society or the Tucson Community Food Bank to honor Lou’s life of service and his dedication to healthy living. Lou will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness and selflessness will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
