Lupe J Aranda's Obituary
Lupe J. Aranda, born April 23, 1935, in Gallinas Canyon, New Mexico to Antonia and Jose Aranda, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Lupe moved to Mammoth, Arizona, in 1955, where he met the love of his life, Maryellen “Nena” Aranda. They married in 1957 and shared 68 beautiful years of marriage together. They later made their home in Tucson, Arizona, where they resided since 1961. Together, they built a life centered around faith, hard work, strength, and family.
Lupe retired after 36 years of service to the Magma Copper Mine. He was known for his work ethic, wisdom, strong personality, and unforgettable sayings. He loved boxing, politics, red chili, his recliner and spending time with all who came to visit.
He was a Husband, Father, Tata, Brother, and Friend and devoted family man. He was proud of his family that he raised on good values, hard work, honesty, faith, and responsibility.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Maryellen “Nena” Aranda.
He is survived by his children, Loretta Aranda, Joe Aranda (Lupita), Cindy Ruiz (Mark), and Jerry Aranda (Monique), Crystal Aranda, Priscilla Limon (Fernando), Jesse Aranda (Nancy), Sabrina Aranda, and Salina Mims (Byron); along with 6 beloved grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, sisters, extended family, and all those who loved him dearly.
Lupe deeply missed his beloved Nena after her passing, and while his family mourns the loss of them both, they find comfort knowing they are reunited once again.
Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 601 E. Ft. Lowell Rd., Tucson, AZ 85705 (https://www.google.com/maps/search/601+E.+Ft.+Lowell+Rd.,+Tucson,+AZ+85705?entry=gmail&source=g). Rosary will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM.
