Marcia Light's Obituary
Marcia Silberman Light of Tucson, AZ, passed away on June 13, 2020 after a short illness, and just 2 days shy of her 51st wedding anniversary. Marcia was born in East St. Louis, Illinois, the oldest daughter of Arthur and Shirley Silberman. She attended Belleville Township High School and Bradley University. After marrying Kenneth Light in 1969, they moved to Boulder, Colorado, and then relocated to St. Paul, Minnesota where the first and second of their three children (Kim and Brandon) were born. A promotion invited the family to Denver in 1976 where a third child (Rebecca) joined the family. In 1986 the Light family moved to Tucson, Arizona, where Marcia worked for many years at Handmaker Jewish Services for the Aging as the Executive Assistant to the CEO. She retired from Handmaker after 26 years and spent the last 7 years enjoying the highlights of her life: her children, Kim, Brandon and Elana, Rebecca and Josh; and grandchildren, Ellie, Jaden, Mason, Jake, Ari, Eli and Lila. She is also survived by sister, Barbara (Vic), and brother, Jeffrey (Jeanie).
Due to the COVID environment, no Shiva is being held. In lieu of food traditionally offered for a Shiva, (and because Marcia always put others first as a consummate cook and hostess), the family suggests contributions to “MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger”, or your local community food bank. Funeral services will be held privately for the family with a memorial service at a later date.
