Margaret "Maggie" Abrams Simmons
Margaret died peacefully at her home on Monday, February 19th, 2024 at 8:45pm. She was a Tucson native born June 4, 1931 to John Franklin Billings and Aileen Webster Billings. Margaret grew up in Tucson and graduated from Tucson High School in 1949. From 1949-1951, she attended the University of Arizona where she met and married William C. Abrams Jr., known as Skip. Together they had four children and lived in several places around the country before moving back to Tucson in 1978. They enjoyed family, friends, tennis, traveling in their trailer to Mexico and around the country until Skip passed away from cancer in 2001. They were married 49 years. In 2002, Margaret married Paul C. Simmons and they enjoyed a loving marriage for 17 years until Paul's death in 2019. Margaret was an only child and lived a quiet life, but God had something more for her. She is survived by four children, Kathy (Jeff) Cole, Eric (Lori) Abrams, Claudia (Jim) Zimmer, Lisa (Bart deceased) Shillingburg, fourteen grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren (and counting). Margaret, Maggie, Mom, Nana was adored by her loving family and friends for her kindness, smile, devotion, fun spirit, and love of Jesus. She has left a beautiful legacy of love and family unity.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 at 2:00pm at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church Chapel (on the NE corner) 7650 N. Paseo del Norte, Tucson, AZ 85704.
