Marge was a treasured friend and valued colleague when we worked alongside each other at Catalina High School. I was awed and inspired by her ability to reach even the most recalcitrant students and also by her ability to individualize and differentiate both instruction and assessment. Marge got the best out of her students because they knew she loved them and was devoted to their well-being. Her ability to bring in community volunteers and resources was unrivaled. In a profession where the goal is to have an influence on student growth and development, Marge Gould doubtless helped thousands of her kids over the course of her career, especially those who need dedicated teachers the most. I’ll miss her, but her influence on me as both a person and a professional will last the rest of my life.
Marge was my first cousin! I attended her and Dave’s wedding in Panama with my Aunt Elaine. She and Dave were wonderful to me when I attended college in Vermont. I visited with them on weekends when I traveled to Beverly, Mass to visit my Aunt Joy, her kids and Dave and Marge and their kids. Marge was one of the brightest, most creative people I know! She had boundless energy and a heart of gold especially for her students!
Karen, Kim, Russell and their families have lost a beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother and our family has lost a dear member! ❤️
Marge was a warrior on behalf of disadvantaged and marginalized youth. Her tireless efforts yielded positive results and touched countless lives for the better. Marge was a force for good and the world is a better place because she was here. I had the unique privilege of working with Marge on Project LEARN (Literacy Education and Resource Network), a project of the Arizona Supreme Court. She had a wonderful ability to engage the community as volunteers, benefactors and supporters. Everyone who worked with her considered it a privilege to serve on TEAM MARGE. She is dearly loved and missed. May she Rest in Peace.
