Maria Asuncion Pro's Obituary
Maria Y. Pro joined our heavenly Father in her passing on July 27, 2019. She was born in Douglas, Arizona on November 14, 1924 where she grew up and attended school. She primarily lived in Tucson, Arizona and worked in the cafeteria at the University of Arizona Student Union for over 15 years.
Maria dedicated herself to her faith and the Virgen de Guadalupe. She was involved with the church through her longtime membership of the St. Augustine Cathedral Guadalupanas. She was a strong and compassionate woman who enjoyed music and dancing. She brought joy to many with her sense of humor, her stories, and tamales at Christmas. She was devoted to her family where her home was as open as her heart. She had a warm-spirit and a light that shined brighter than most.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jorge Pro. She fiercely loved him and the memories they shared together provided her a sense of comfort. She is survived by their children, Antonio (Renee) Pro, Jorge (Juliet) Pro, Dalia (Richard) Basurto, Alicia (Tony) Felix, and Raymond (Augustina) Pro; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who all loved her.
“There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under the heavens, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.” Ecclesiastes 3: 1-2 & 4
Services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2019 at St. Augustine’s Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Rosary will be recited at 9:00 am followed by Mass at 9:30 am. Interment will take place after Mass at Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 N. Oracle Rd.
