Marilyn Yampolsky's Obituary
Marilyn Yampolsky, aged 88, passed away on January 19th, 2024, in Tucson, Arizona. Born on July 1st, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, to Yetta (Kirshner) and David Kirshner, Marilyn’s life was a tapestry of family, love, and adventure.
A Tucson resident since 1961, Marilyn embraced the spirit of her new home with the same zest for life that she inherited from her beloved parents. Her mother, Yetta Kirshner Lerner, a pillar of strength and love, passed away in 2007, leaving behind a legacy of family unity that Marilyn carried forward. Her father, David Kirshner, predeceased Yetta, having shared 50 years of marriage with her.
Marilyn’s journey was shared for 45 years with her husband, Max Yampolsky, who passed away in 1999. Max, a prominent figure in Tucson’s nightlife, was known for his entrepreneurial spirit in the bar and nightclub scene. This spirit of adventure and love for life was a shared bond between Marilyn and Max, evident in their shared passion for world travel.
Marilyn's life was marked by both joy and sorrow. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Brent Yampolsky, and her husband, Max. Her resilient spirit shone through these times of loss, a testament to her strength and love for her family.
She is survived by her children, Gail Frank (Jack), Mark Yampolsky (Terry), and Steven Yampolsky (Karen); and her sister, Sandy Ross (Gerald). Marilyn's legacy continues through her eight grandchildren - David (Jaclyn), Leah (Jacob) Kulchin, and Danielle Frank; Rachel, Aaron, and Hannah Yampolsky; Benjamin and Lily Yampolsky - and two great-grandchildren, Asher and Violet Frank.
Marilyn's life was a reflection of her values - family, adventure, and resilience. The family extends their gratitude to Harmony Hospice for their extraordinary care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Marilyn to the charity of your choice.
The funeral service will be held on January 21, 10:00 AM (MT), at Evergreen Cemetery, 3015 North Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85705. A shiva will immediately follow at the residence of Mark and Terry Yampolsky, honoring Marilyn's life and legacy.
