Marionbetty Kadin Klein's Obituary
Marionbetty Kadin Klein, beloved mother of Simon Klein, Frederick Klein, Donald Klein and Dr. Laura Miller passed away on August 9, 2011. She was born in Butte, Montana on September 16, 1918. As a child, she lived in Washington, D.C. and Staten Island, N.Y. She attended George Washington University and was awarded a bachelors degree in sociology from the University of Chicago before she was 20. Together with her husband, Richard, she raised their four children until his death in 1964. Thereafter she continued to serve as the heart of the family, insuring that all of her children completed their college and professional education. She worked as a social worker in Chicago at Oak Forest Hospital until the family moved to Tucson in 1967. Upon arriving in Tucson, she was involved in developing the Head Start program and continued to work as a social worker, until she received her real estate license. She worked as a real estate agent for several years until she earned her brokers license and formed Casa Bonita Realty. Even as a real estate professional, she incorporated her skills as a social worker and kept in touch with many of the families that she worked with, long after business transactions were completed. For the last 10 years, her brilliant intellect deteriorated from the ravages of Alzheimers disease. Even while her mental faculties declined, her eyes still lit up whenever she saw a young child. She was preceded in death and will now be reunited with her beloved husband, Richard Adams Klein, her parents, Barnett and Edythe Kadin, and her brother, Stanley Kadin. She is survived by her brother Max Kadin, her sister Rusty Kadin, her 4 children, 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Her values, hospitality, love of children and wonderful schnecken will never be forgotten. A memorial service will be held at the chapel of EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile on August 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association, the Brain Research Foundation (http://thebrf.org), the University of Arizona Cancer Center, or other favorite charity.
