Marla Loreen Amos' Obituary
Marla Loreen Amos, 65, born on July 9, 1950, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 after a 4 year battle with cancer. Our beloved mother will be missed by many but will forever be in our hearts.
She was born in Blue Earth, Minnesota and moved to Tucson when she was eighteen where she met the love of her life Rick Amos. She began working at the beauty shop with her mother in law Eve and then moved on to sell real estate and work as a broker and run a construction business with Rick.
Marla was loving, compassionate and always willing to help others. Her laugh was one that would make heads turn; it was truly genuine and absolutely contagious. She loved working outside tending to her beautiful flowers and trees.
Playing various card games was a big part of her life. Marla enjoyed Pinochle, Rook, Spades, and Acey Deucy. She taught many others to enjoy these too. Marla and Rick would start each day with a round of Blackjack or Poker at their breakfast counter and also loved playing Bridge.
Marla was an avid runner for many years and spent countless hours working in her yard. She loved flowers, frogs and the color green. When it came to food, she would be the one to skip the main course and focus on dessert. And, oh did we laugh about her love of butter! The house was sure to have several pounds in the freezer just in case she may run low.
She enjoyed going to the movies with friends every weekend. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and much of her life was focused on them. She helped them with homework and was always an amazing role model for them. She traveled to Durango, Colorado to spend her grandson’s birthdays with them each year and enjoyed the mountains, hikes and time with friends and family.
Marla was fortunate to foster a friendship that lasted her lifetime with her dear friend Susan Aswegan of Minnesota. We can still hear them laughing and telling stories when she came to visit.
Marla’s book collection could be a small library. She always wanted to read the hardback version and invested a small fortune for one of her favorite pastimes.
She is survived by her mother Eleanora Glory and father John Glory, her brothers James, Dannie and Steven, her daughter Nikole, her son Charlie, and grandchildren, Roman, Kaylei, Chloe, Riley and Braden. Marla also impacted many other individuals who consider her to have been their step mom because she was so instrumental in their life and always had an open door and kitchen. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Aguilar and her husband Rick of 41 years.
