Mary Jo Bogan's Obituary
Mary Jo (Skiles) Bogan, 91 Born and raised in Arkansas, she was a Southern lady who married her handsome preacher man and followed him into the ministry. They headed west to Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona, with a side trip to Missouri. Trained as a concert pianist, she served the Lord as pastor's wife, mother, and church pianist and organist in churches large and small. Preceded Home to her Heavenly Father by J. W. Skiles (father), J. W. Jr. (brother) and C. Gus Bogan (husband and love of her life), she leaves behind four sisters: Aileen, Bobbie, Ann, and Sue; three children: Mary Jean "Jary" Wesley (Lynn), James Howard (Jeanette), and Robert "Bob" (Estee) Bogan; two grandchildren: Sabrina and Bobby Bogan, and great-granddaughter Jessie. Her home was always ready for guests - friends, family, or couples wanting a simple wedding performed by a preacher. She wasn't outgoing - that was Gus' job. She preferred a supportive role. She was happiest playing her beloved classical music or classical arrangements of hymns. Burial will be private, family only, with a memorial service at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1825 N. Alvernon, with Dr. Wayne North officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Jo's name may be made to Casas Christian School or Emmanuel Baptist Church/North American Missions.
