Mary L. Von Metzger's Obituary
Mary L. Von Metzger, age 85, passed away peacefully in her Tucson, Arizona home on November 15, 2025. Born on February 26, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky, Mary lived a life rich in love, devotion, and adventure.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Charles E. Von Metzger, who faithfully stood by her side throughout their remarkable life together. As a military wife, Mary traveled abroad and throughout the United States, supporting Charles in every move and embracing each new place with grace and adaptability. The military eventually brought their family to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where they lived for 24 years, raising their children and building lifelong friendships.
Afterward, Mary enjoyed a fulfilling career and retired from Martin Marietta. With retirement came a new chapter of exploration: Mary and Charles spent over a decade traveling the country in their RV, experiencing the beauty of the open road and the freedom they had earned. Their journeys ultimately led them to settle in Tucson, Arizona, where Mary found peace, comfort, and joy in the place she would call home for the rest of her life.
Mary is survived by her children: Charles B. Von Metzger and his wife Sabine J. Von Metzger, Christina M. Von Metzger, and Bobbie S. Coleman and her husband Kim D. Coleman; as well as her brother, Don Logsdon, and his wife Marie Logsdon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard E. and Mary F. Logsdon of Jeffersonville, Indiana; her younger brother, Jimmy Logsdon of Jeffersonville, Indiana; her oldest daughter, Terri L. Cole of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and her oldest grandchild, April M. Wilkerson.
A proud and loving matriarch, Mary leaves behind eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, each of whom carried a special place in her heart. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Mary will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the unwavering love she shared with those around her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched.
She will forever be missed.
