Michael John DePietro's Obituary
Michael was born December 20, 1919 to John and Genevieve DePietro in Greenwich Village, NYC. He married Rita Santagata on August 17, 1942 in Meridian, Mississippi where he was stationed with the US Army Air Corps. They had three children, Richard, Rita and Michele. He and his family lived on Staten Island after his return from WWII. He worked for the J. Henry Schroeder Bank in NYC for 30 years, retiring as Vice President in the International Department. He lost his wife Rita to cancer in 1968. He later met and married Darlene Wentz Riba in 1975. They met thru a mutual friend at the Dean Martin Open, where Michael had been invited to play as an amateur. They had a very full and happy life together, traveling, playing golf and enjoying friends and family. Michael was very gregarious and loved a party, many times cooking for the event. He was an avid reader and loved to cook for the family and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife Rita and his daughter, Rita. He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene, son, Richard (Anna), daughter, Michele (Glenn) and stepson Willis Riba, four grandchildren, Archie, Kevin, Erica and Erica. He leaves 4 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Casa del la Luz Hospice for their care of Michael in his last days. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held 10 AM, Monday, January 12, 2015 in EVERGREEN CEMETERY.
