I can't believe Neil has crossed over to a better place so unexpectedly. I say that because I just talked to him Monday, asked him how he felt about going home on Tuesday..He was worried about his daughter not being able to take care of him and his wife also..She had been in the hospital a long time in rehab,so she was`nt getting around too well either..I figured I'd wait a couple of days to rest and go see him. David called me early on Thursday the 28th and told me the news..VERY SAD..
I did see him around AUG 18th at the rehab place and I took him some freshly made tamales!! So we had them for lunch there!! Was GREAT!! We talked about the time we went deer hunting together and how we dropped the 4x4 suburban into a deep crevasse..We were BS-ing and was not watching where I was going and drove the right rear wheel into it!! We both looked at each other and said What the ....!!! Neil opened his door and he was looking at about a 12 foot drop!!! Luckily a jeep came along, and after a hard time getting in front, since we were blocking the road, was able to help us out!!
He shared so many stories with us fellow mechanics I could take a couple hours to write them out...Most of them were about the family farm in South Dakota... 1 was about the time he drove a hay hook under his kneecap!!,,another was how he got hit by lightening and woke up under the tractor some time later!! another was I believe was his grandmother and a very young girl coming from Germany to their farm and no one knew they were coming!! another was some neighbor was hit by lightening and all they could find was the metal parts, like the belt buckle, pocket knife!!
Each one of these has its story.. Sure gonna miss you Neil!! GOD BLESS YOU and your Family!!! Your friend and Brother in CHRIST, Val Oros
