Nellie Joyce Clevenger's Obituary
Nellie Joyce Clevenger passed away peacefully on April 27, 2019 here in Tucson. She was born to Carrie (Dunn) and Roy Hickcox in Lamar, CO. When quite young her family moved to Salinas, CA where she later graduated from high school. It was here that she met her husband to be, French Stout Clevenger. Later came three sons to this union, French, Vaughn and Keith. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and her husband traveled extensively in this country and also foreign countries during her husband’s military career. They settled in Tucson in 1962. Nellie retired from Tucson Medical Center after a long career followed by many years of volunteer service. She was recognized by the TMC Auxiliary for 16,000 hours of volunteer service. After retirement she became active in her church, First Southern Baptist Church of Tucson where is taught Sunday school for a number of years. A service is to be held at 2 PM, Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Evergreen Mortuary. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 1 PM until the time of the service.
