Nicholas Hamill's Obituary
Nicholas Ryan Hamill, beloved father and loving son, age 37, was born on January 12, 1987, at Tucson Medical Center at 4:19 in the afternoon. He passed away on February 19, 2024, at 2:05 in the afternoon in Tucson AZ. Nicholas graduated from Sahuaro High School in 2005. He then went to the Motorcycle Mechanic Institute in Phoenix, AZ. He certified in Honda, Harley-Davidson, Yamaha and Kawasaki in 2007. After he completed his certifications, he worked at Harley Davidson and CSA Cycles Skis and ATVs.
As an independent contractor for many years, Nicholas went from resurfacing countertops and cabinets in kitchens and apartment complexes all over Tucson, to learning different techniques such as using a professional compression air sprayer and epoxy reconstructing thousands to million-dollar houses and businesses. His skills and techniques were the best. He impressed everyone with his work.
In 2020, Nick was a huge part in building the caterpillar building at 875 W Cushing St. in Tucson, AZ. Known to be a world class building, he was working with multi-function articulating platform ladders, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts. The effort and time he put into his work showed he was dedicated even on strict deadlines. He could run a crew and was always a leader. Most of all he loved his family and friends and would do anything for anyone.
After assisting with the caterpillar building, Nicholas helped with the renovation of the Pantano Christian Church on 1755 S Houghton Rd. in Tucson. It was called the auditorium and lobby remodel project. It consisted of refreshing the church with a new coat of paint, new lighting and redoing the main floor during the summer of 2021. Nicholas drove and traveled all over for work. He spent a lot of his time working in Tucson, Phoenix, Corona, Rita Ranch, Sahuarita, and Marana, always different places in Arizona.
In 2024, Nicholas went from hand painting and using a professional compression air sprayer gun reconstructing houses to working inside a warehouse, making and mixing spec in paint. He was excellent at math. Understanding and learning codes and calculations. His crew members grew very fond of him. The warehouse Nicholas was working at was old, so was the paint on the walls, especially in the breakroom. There were not many places to walk or eat around the area. He painted the breakroom in the warehouse when he wasn't doing other work or when he was on his break. He did such a great job repainting the breakroom, he was asked to repaint the entire warehouse. He was excited to except the offer. Nicholas advanced to a full-time position at the warehouse with a raise and benefits. No job was too big for him.
Nicholas loved to cook. His true passion was creating new dishes. He could cook up anything in the kitchen, but his favorite food to prepare and eat was Vietnamese food. Nicholas brought the family together by getting us all in the kitchen to help prepare and cook meals. He loved being a chef and a wonderful father to his daughter, Payton Hamill, and his dog, Chevy Blazer. He taught his daughter all the necessary trades to continue his legacy in the kitchen. Family and friends enjoyed Nick's food from all over. He could cook for large groups of people, and he helped with many gatherings at the Ranch in Oklahoma. It didn't matter how busy Nick was during the day, his family would be sitting together for dinner every night.
He loved his dog, Chevy and his daughter, Payton. Chevy was his road dog. They enjoyed long walks in the park, car rides, and trips to Patagonia. They were inseparable. His daughter, Payton, and him enjoyed playing basketball together. He also loved watching her basketball games on the weekends. They played card games such as Uno with Mom, Katrina. Nick and Payton are competitive just like each other. He also loved to spend time with his sister, Sierra, as well as his nieces and nephews, Mila, Elena, KJ, and Caspian.
Nicholas loved with his whole heart. He loved to tell jokes and could always make anyone laugh. He had a light and smile you couldn't dim.
Nicholas is survived by his beloved mother, Katrina Tyree Vinson; his beautiful daughter, Payton Fae Hamill; his dog, Chevy Blazer; high school sweetheart, Sarah Marie Druck; his sister, Sierra Nichole Vinson; her daughters, Mila Vinson and Elena Vinson; and their father, Zachary Pratt; stepparents, David Vinson and Elizabeth Vinson; his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Nicholas Hamill’s service will be held on May 3rd at 2:30 pm at Evergreen Mortuary Cemetery and Ceremony located at 3015 North Oracle Road in Tucson AZ 85705.
