Norma Ruth Roland's Obituary
Norma Ruth Green Roland passed away April 22, 2022. Norma was born to Roy Green and Ola Jenkins Green December 9, 1934 in Stratford, Oklahoma. She had a keen mind and strong work ethic, graduating as Valedictorian of Okmulgee High School. She paused her studies to begin business ventures with her husband, Paul, while rearing their three children. Norma later obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University and Texas. She worked as a Quality Assurance & Mechanical Assurance Specialist at Honeywell Aerospace until retirement. Norma had an eye for aesthetics and applied it to gardening, cooking, decorating, entertaining, always making her home a place of beauty. She enjoyed and supported the visual and performing arts and was an avid reader and writer. Norma was a loyal, caring and generous friend to all who had the good fortune to know her.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia O’Malley, sister Louise Corley, brother Douglas Green, sister-in-law Violet Gorden Green. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Catherine Smart (Will) of Quincy, Massachusetts; son, Jonathan Roland (Tina) of Tucson; grandchildren Anne Smart, Stephen Smart, Scott Smart, Andrew Smart, Thomas O’Malley, Grace O’Malley, Erin Roland, Paul Roland, Jonathan Roland Jr., and Isabelle Roland; and nieces Mariola Ruth Newell, Elizabeth Green and Lee Ann Lage.
Family and friends will celebrate her life Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Mortuary Cemetery & Crematory, 3015 N. Oracle Road, Tucson, Arizona.
